"Cam will be your residence advising partner" The words hung in the air as I walked across the UBC residence commons block eight years ago to meet Tom Cruise, uh, I mean Cam Buschel. I turned beat red and have pretty much stayed that way ever since.

From our first all staff meeting when he - one of the cutest, coolest guys I'd ever met - saved me a seat, to hang out sessions and advising mishaps - we hit it off right away, as friends. He didn't follow directions that well, but I saw him as a work in progress. After all, he was my boss (or so he thought).

Over the next four years we stayed friends through eachothers' relationships, degrees, and changing lives...ubc always pulling us back together for a night at the Gallery or a day at Arts County Fair or a dinner at Steve's.

Then, ever so slowly and cautiously, like everything with Cam, we started dating. Who knew that the soft spoken, careful, mysterious hottie would end up dating an outspoken fireball? I didn't see it at the time, although he tells me it was in the cards all along - this was a forever kind of thing.

He is the kindest most amazing man I've ever met. Too bad Santa beat him to the punch with a ring this Christmas...although being Mrs Claus will certainly have its perks! :)
